The Christmas of the Blue Monkeys

"In the four corners of the Otherworld, the preparations for Christmas were in full swing."

Miss Squirrel was already preparing her famous pudding. Mr. Badger was finishing decorating the trees around his home, and Baron Toad was finalizing the invitations for the much-anticipated Christmas party.

In the far northern reaches, Father Walrus was gathering his faithful penguins for a mission of the utmost importance.

He had received a very special letter...

This year, he had received a letter from the other side of the world: the great blue monkeys of Monkey Island wanted exotic fruits for their end-of-year party.

But what does "exotic fruits" mean for a people living on an island where fruits and spices with more incredible scents and colors abound?

"We must get to the bottom of this," said Father Walrus, "and then it will be an opportunity to spot the places!".

Indeed, the inland roads through the mists to the island had only recently been opened... And Father Walrus was preparing to bring his gifts there for the first time.

Upon their arrival, the old walrus and his penguins took great precautions.

But a walrus and penguins on an island where an eternal summer of vanilla and banana trees reigns... that's a crew that really doesn't go unnoticed!

"Look!" exclaimed a huge blue-furred gorilla to monkeys dressed in eclectic outfits of vests, tailcoats, and hats, some with top hats, others with bowlers, all mismatched.

"Look, it's him! Father Walrus and his penguins! You see he exists! He got my letter!"

'The letter was a trap and the old Walrus, known for his curiosity, had plunged his flipper in first, as they say in his home.'

The monkeys, accompanied by the great blue gorilla, soon surrounded our little friends from the north and the old walrus, performing acrobatic dances accompanied by loud laughter.

One had to resign oneself to it, Father Walrus and his entourage were their guests. They were soon led through the tropical forest, to the heart of the island, where a grand banquet was prepared for them.

Exotic fruits and spices presented in all sorts... Obviously, the masters of the place were not lacking in them, and Father Walrus felt a bit foolish for taking the letter seriously. But that did not tarnish his optimism, and he enjoyed, just like his little penguins, this strange impromptu party, handing out gifts here and there that he always carried with him... Just in case.

The monkeys then offered a rare tea to Father Walrus in exchange. It had notes of tropical fruits that filled the air with exotic scents. "This tea is our way of saying thank you for coming all the way here, for crossing the misty oceans to our island," explained the great blue gorilla, handing over a finely carved wooden box.

The old walrus was as surprised as he was moved... After so many years of giving out gifts, today it was he who was receiving one.

Since then, for every Christmas preparation, Father Walrus and his little penguin friends share a cup of this delicious tea and reminisce about their memories of Monkey Island… The day when, a little early, a blue gorilla and some monkeys celebrated his first Christmas.
